August is packed with opportunities to train, learn, connect, and get outside with the Bass Reeves Gun Club community. Whether you’re brand new to firearms, ready to sharpen your marksmanship, interested in competition, or just looking for a weekend adventure, there’s something on the calendar for you.

Ladies Day Outdoors — August 9
Ladies Day Outdoors is an all-female range experience designed to provide a welcoming introduction to firearm safety, pistol fundamentals, and the BRGC Ladies community.
New shooters are welcome, and you do not have to be a BRGC member to participate.
Open to members and non-members | $25 range fee per person
Queens of Defense — August 12
This month’s NAAGA Queens of Defense Zoom discussion focuses on Understanding Criminal Targeting.
Personal safety starts before a confrontation occurs. We’ll discuss situational awareness, behavioral patterns, how criminals may identify potential victims, and practical ways women can reduce vulnerabilities and make better decisions before a dangerous situation escalates.

Men's Day Out — August 15
Whether you’re a new shooter or looking to sharpen your existing skills, Men's Day Out offers structured range training covering firearm and range safety, marksmanship fundamentals, and shooting drills led by experienced instructors.
Come train, connect with other men in the community, and build your confidence on the range.

Handgun Basics with Intro to Competition — August 15
Curious about competitive shooting but not sure where to start?
Our Handgun Basics with Intro to Competition course, taught by our Competitive Team Coach, introduces the core skills and fundamentals shooters need to begin transitioning from recreational shooting into competitive performance.
No need to show up ready to win a trophy. Show up ready to learn.
General Meeting — August 22
Join us for our monthly BRGC General Meeting as we fellowship with members, recap current initiatives, and look ahead at what’s coming next.
The meeting is open to members and non-members, with a virtual attendance option available for those unable to join us in person.
Featured Event: Survival Prep Weekend — August 29–30
We’re heading to Ocoee, Tennessee, for a weekend where we won’t just talk about preparedness—we’ll actually put it into practice.
Our White Water Rafting & Camping / Survival Prep Weekend combines outdoor adventure, camping, preparedness, and fellowship for a memorable end to the month.

Online New Member Orientation — September 5
Held on the first Saturday of each month, NMOC introduces new members to who we are, what we stand for, and why the BRGC mission continues to matter.
Participants will also explore the powerful—and often untold—tradition of Black arms, including the history of self-defense, resilience, and responsible firearm ownership within our community.

Hunting Practice Range Day — September 6
Join BRGC at ATL Gun Club for a hands-on hunting practice session designed to help you build confidence and sharpen your skills with your rifle, crossbow, or shotgun.
$30 per person

Marksmanship Proficiency Assessment — September 19
Want to know where your fundamentals currently stand? The MPA provides a stress-free assessment of your understanding of firearm safety and basic marksmanship skills.
Led by Kevin Beck and the MPA Team, the assessment gives shooters an opportunity to identify both strengths and areas for continued development.
