Youth Firearms Education Program (Oct 2023)

Are you new to firearms and have (or will have) youth in the home? Are you unsure how to begin the process of introducing your youth to firearms? Questions about how to store a firearm when youth are present? Have you wondered how your youth would react when confronted with an unattended firearm?

We believe that teaching the youth to handle and respect firearms is the best way to prevent negligent discharges. This 1-day course offers classroom and range time that emphasizes safety and is designed to familiarize you and your youth with the different types of firearms. Come prepared for an interactive time and open discussion around firearms.

Registration:

• Pre-registration is required. 
• Please make sure we have your correct email this is how we communicate with you.
• The event is in person. Firearms, Ammo, eye/ear protection, and targets are provided
• A responsible adult (or guardian) 18+ must accompany the youth but does not have to be the parent

Cost

$35 for adults over 21+

FREE for youth 0-21 years old

Note: you must select a ticket for each person attending and provide their name and age(s).

Time: 10:00 am - 2  pm

Be sure to be at the range by 9:30 am to complete any administrative tasks so that we can begin at 10:00 am sharp.

DRESS CODE:

We will be outdoors so be aware of the temperature and plan accordingly. For your safety, we recommend a baseball-type cap or hat with a brim, a lightweight long or short-sleeve shirt, long pants, and comfortable shoes/boots (no sandals, open-toed shoes, sliders, flip-flops, or high heels). Please do NOT wear halters, blouses with low necklines, and excessively loose clothing or jewelry.

2. South River Gun Club Waiver If you have shot at South River Gun Club within the past year, a Waiver should be on file for you and you do not need to complete a new one. If you have not shot at South River Gun Club before, you will also need to complete their liability waiver form. The link for that form is SRGC Waiver SRGC Waiver (secureserver.net). if possible, please print, complete, and bring this form with you to the range. If you are unable to print it, we will have additional blank waiver forms at the range.
